Honeymoon! - Day 4

On the last full day of our honeymoon, we started out with mimosas and pastries from Donuts and Danish down the road from our apartment. We sat outside on our patio and ate. It was lovely!!

Then we headed out for a day of touring historic sites and the Sonoma Plaza. We started out with the Sonoma State Historic Park. We visited the Vallejo home and Chalet Museum. We then drove down to the main plaza and looked around the Toscano Hotel and the Sonoma Barracks. Next we walked over to the Mission San Francisco Solano.

The Mission was founded in 1823 and is the northern most Alta California Franciscan mission. We toured the chapel and the museum and saw paintings of other missions by Jorgensen from the early 1900s. There was a really pretty courtyard behind the mission with nice flowers and a neat fountain.

After our morning of touring the historic sites, we stopped for lunch at the Basque Cafe where we had delicious sandwiches and were able to sit outside. We strolled around the square for awhile and browsed some shops. Then we stopped in at the Visitor's Bureau and found out about Sebastiani, a winery we could walk to from the square!

On our way to Sebastiani, Mike communed with a friendly horse. The stroll down to the winery was very pleasant, and the wine tasting itself was great! We ended up buying a bottle of their Sauvignon Blanc to take home with us. We walked back down to the plaza and found Sunflower Caffe which had a really lovely back courtyard where we relaxed and enjoyed yummy smoothies.

After a bit of relaxing, we headed to the Roche tasting room, which was right near the plaza. We tried several wines there and then headed back to the plaza to watch the set up for the Farmer's Market.

The Farmer's Market was amazing!! There were SO many vendors. Plus, there was an awesome Cuban jazz band (Bobi Cespedes Quintet) that we really enjoyed. We got our dinner - a macaroni and cheese with bacon strudel for me and a tri-tip sandwhich for Mike - and listened to the band. We also tried out the mini donuts, iced tea, peaches, and blueberries. Everything was delicious!!
